Privacy Policy
CellSense ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it when you use the CellSense mobile application.
1. What we collect
- Signal readings: RSRP, SINR, network type (4G/5G), and cell tower identifiers recorded passively as you use the app.
- Location data: GPS coordinates associated with each signal reading. We collect this only while the app is active (foreground or, if you opt in, background).
- Device information: Anonymous device type and OS version used for diagnostic purposes.
- Account data: If you register, we store your email address and a hashed password. Registration is optional.
2. How we use your data
- To build and improve our crowd-sourced coverage heatmaps.
- To display your personal signal history and statistics within the app.
- To power the contributor leaderboard (your readings, never your identity, are shown).
- To send optional email notifications (only if you opt in).
3. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Aggregated, anonymised heatmap data may be shared with third-party organisations (e.g. telecoms regulators or businesses) in aggregate form only — no individual readings are attributable to any person.
We use the following third-party services to operate CellSense:
- OpenCelliD / BeaconDB — for resolving cell tower locations. Your cell identifiers are sent to these services to determine tower positions.
- Resend — for transactional emails.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications (if enabled).
4. Data retention
Signal readings are retained indefinitely to maintain the accuracy of the coverage map. Account data is retained until you request deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.
5. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
6. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We review our security practices regularly.
7. Children
CellSense is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app and on this page with a revised effective date.
9. Contact
